“You know the day destroys the night”..

I have been painting a lot lately… To unwind and center myself after some pretty hectic days, trying to keep up with Boy’s home-ed schedule.

…Lego club, Crafts group, gymnastics, climbing… And other social meet ups, walks in the woods – in the dark and in the mud – a visit to the hair dresser’s… Our days have been pretty busy recently.

So I really enjoy my time painting and knitting, whenever I get a chance… To just … Be.

These are my latest scribbles in my sketchbook.

I also managed to finish a painting of a wolf…

and a pair of socks…

Motherhood is filled with achievements…  Rarely big. Mostly small.

One could say that I’m trying to raise a good human being and if I succeed, that would be a big achievement indeed.

But you know, all these days filled with just mundane stuff – mostly tending the needs of everyone else – can sometimes wear you down and make you go blind to the beauty of the world. You tend to forget how lucky you are and you even forget to be joyful. You get caught up in everyday chores and you forget to appreciate what you have got.

The stars must be laughing at my day to day problems.

And then I paint. Or knit. And slow down. And instead of being caught up in day to day life, I remember…

You know “the day, does destroy the night and the night does divide the day”.
