… Boy and I made our very first batch of organic soap tonight…
First impressions: they look and smell very good. To give you a vague idea of fragrance, the ingredients are: coconut oil, shea butter, cacao butter, pine pollen, blue chamomile essential oil, cinnamon essential oil, a hand full of oat meal, rose petals…
We used an organic melt-and-pour soap base, so that we didn’t have to handle any harsh chemicals – Which makes the whole project very easy, satisfying and fun to do with kids… Boy felt like a real potion master, stirring all the ingredients in his cauldron.
We melted the base and oils first, then added the rest while stirring. We left everything to simmer and infuse for a while and then poured the mixture into the moulds. They did set fairly quickly.
We used 1 lb of soap base for 1/4 cup of coconut oil to give you an idea of the ratio.
It was our very first batch, but judging on Boy’s enthusiasm, I’m sure it’s not going to be the last time you will hear about our soap making experiments around here :)
That’s all folks… Have a good night!

They look so awesome
Great job! I’ve never made soap before. It looks like fun. I bet your house smelled wonderful.
Oh, how cool! It must have smelled AMAZING… and I love the moulds you used too 😀
that is so cool! I´ve never made soap before, but it looks so good I think I have to try it. And I really like the shapes your soaps are in! :D
You are such a busy and clever lady! Although I think I would be tempted to take a bite out of those soaps…they look too much like chocolate bars.
They do look and smell very appetising… :D
